Capcom is rounding out its legacy collections with the addition of the Megaman Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. This collection includes all four Mega Man Zero games, Mega Man ZX, and also Mega Man ZX Advent.

The Mega Man Zero games are set 100 years after the events of Mega Man X. You play as Zero in a brand new era where of course deadly robots are still trying to erase humanity from the planet. While the X series is universally praised, the Zero series remains semi-niche up till now. Although they have different titles, gameplay remains largely the same. In Mega Man Zero, you have to gain and use the right weapons against the series’ version of “robot masters”. The level structure does break the mold in the first entry but returns to the stage select screen fans are familiar with in later entries.

A new feature to the games is a score system that rates you based on your performance for each mission. While this doesn’t really seem to change much for the game itself, it gives a bit of incentive to replay missions and try for a higher ranking.

The Mega Man ZX games are a slightly different afair. Set 2 centuries after the events of Mega Man Zero (yeah, I know), robots and humanity have found peace. Well, at least for a brief while as some quickly become mavericks and start the cycle over again. These games differ by offering a more exploration focused gameplay. While you can select new missions to do from an overview screen, you’ll have to navigate through the game’s world to find the exact location to start it up. The other gameplay elements are very close to X and Zero however so fans will find themselves at home.

The Megaman Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is one that most fans probably didn’t expect but should be happy to have. This latest collection will release on January 21st, 2020 for the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $29.99. I’m hoping the next collection will be the battle network games because… damn!
