This weekend at Pax East 2017, Telltale gave us the first look at their newest game – and it’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy!
“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is a brand new story of the universe’s unlikeliest heroes: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of them has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands.
From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, you wear the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, where your decisions and actions drive the story you experience.”
I have to admit, I’m pretty hyped. I’m not the biggest Marvel fan around, but Telltale has a habit of producing great games no matter the subject. I’m interested to see what direction they’ll take with the story and player decisions! The voice cast also looks pretty good, with Scott Porter, Brandon Paul and Adam Harrington on the docket.
More on the game will be revealed on March 10th at Pax East, where the Telltale Games Team and Marvel Games’ creative director will talk about the series, its creative process, and more. If like me, you can’t make it to the actual show, it will be streamed live on twitch. And that’s not all! On March 17th, there will also be a crowd play event for the first episode at SXSW in Texas. It will be hosted at the Paramount Theater and will be open to all badge holders of SXSW on a first come, first serve basis.
No exact release date for the game has been given yet, but it’s expected to launch sometime this spring for the PC, consoles, and mobile.
