This morning, I work up to a cacophony of gaming news leading into E3 2016 next week. It kicked off with a slight disappointment as Yooka Laylee was delayed for further polish and was followed by numerous reveals and rumors of E3 happenings. I won’t go into detail on that just yet, but in a not so surprising announcement, 2006’s Final Fantasy XII will be given the full HD treatment!
Final Fantasy XII drove people to argue over whether it was an absolutely brilliant or lazy entry in the series. Personally, I loved the gambit system which gave a kind of chess like feel to combat, although the story (and some of the characters) were entirely forgettable. This HD remaster, now known as FFXII: The Zodiac Age, is actually an extension of the International version with a whole lot of polish.
According to the Final Fantasy twitter, The Zodiac Age will tote:
“…the Zodiac Job System, a newly remastered soundtrack, a brand new trial mode and more!”
Which sounds very enticing for both fans of the game and those who never got a chance to experience the greatness of Captain Basch of Dalmasca.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is slated for release sometime in 2017 for the PS4. It’d be a good bet that the game will also find its way to PC shortly afterwards.
