Since Nintendo and Capcom have made such a beautiful relationship on the mobile market with their flagship series, Monster Hunter, it’s hard to remember that they used to be released for the PlayStation home consoles. Imagine the crowd’s surprise as Shawn Layden left the PlayStation stage promising a title that is a cult hit around the world and it turned out to be a fully high-resolution MH Title for the home console. That title is Monster Hunter World.
Although there has been very literal information on the game outside of the trailer, this news should make any fan of the title extremely excited. From what was shown, it looks like you’ll be able to actually hide from monsters now using camouflage as well as bushes. This is a feature that doesn’t work nearly as well in the handheld counterparts as moving around takes quite a while to do while crouching. Also within the trailer was a nice acknowledgment to the mounting mechanic that has made the 3DS titles really become something all new.
If that wasn’t enough to get everyone super pumped, the rest of the trailer showcased Rathalos flying in and shooting a massive fireball, being able to use a grappling hook to swing yourself through the environment and back to the monster as well, a way to kick off of walls to land a jumping attack, hitching a ride onto pterodactyls to get away, and even destroying parts of the environment to deal damage to the giant monsters.
After so much excitement, it’s hard to settle back into a reporting stance on Monster Hunter World however as of now, we do know that it will have an early 2018 release date.
